Susie Hargreaves is a Consultant in Leadership, Management, Strategy, Planning and Online Safety.
Susie is recognised as a leading global expert on online child protection. During her 13 years as CEO of the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) she worked closely with the government, internet industry, law enforcement and NGOs, working together to fight online child sexual abuse wherever it is hosted in the world.
Susie regularly appears on national and international media and is an accomplished public speaker and has presented across the globe including at the Vatican, the White House, the African Union and Cambridge Union.
Susie has extensive experience of working internationally, managing teams based in the UK, India and Bangladesh and undertaking policy and advocacy work with Government officials and Ministers, both in the UK and overseas.
Prior to joining the IWF, Susie held a number of senior positions in the Charity sector and also ran her own consultancy company for six years. She is an expert in strategic planning, financial planning, managing risk, organisational development, international development, people and change management, marketing and event planning and charity governance.
Her previous clients included York City Council, Arts Council England, Arts Council Northeast, The National Trust, Salzburg Global Seminar and UNICEF.
During her career Susie has sat on a number of national and international committees as an expert advisor including the ‘End Violence Against Children’s Leaders’ Group’, the World Economic Forum Digital Safety Group; The International Justic Mission Advisory Group; the WeProtect Global Alliance Board, The National Crime Agency CEOP Command Strategic Governance Group, the UK Council for Internet Safety (UKCIS); HMICFRS External Reference Group for review of policing of online child sexual abuse and exploitation, the Crown Prosecution Service Child Sexual Abuse Stakeholder Advisory Body and the BBFC Consultative Council. Susie was a Trustee of Northern Ballet for 6 years, and also the Charity, SOS Children's Villages.
Susie has also received a number of awards and nominations. Most recently she was the winner the PIER Global Online Protection Awards 2024, for Inspirational Leadership. In 2024 she was a finalist for the Women in IT Awards – Tech for Good Award and in 2023 a finalist in the ‘Inspiring Women UK Awards’. In 2023 Susie was made a Honorary Member of the NSPCC Council for “her consistent and exceptional contribution to child protection.” In 2016 she was awarded an OBE for Services to Child Online Protection. Susie was awarded a Clore Leadership Fellowship in 2007/2008.
